Syrian First Lady Cancer Has Been Cured

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s wife, Asma Assad, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has recovered after nearly a year of treatment.


According to Agence France-Presse reported on the 4th, Syrian First Lady Asma Assad has successfully defeated cancer. In an interview broadcast on Syrian National Television on the 3rd, she changed her short hair and appeared in a long white dress.


In the interview, Asma Assad announced that after a year of treatment, she has “completely” got rid of breast cancer.


"My treatment is over, I completely beat cancer," Asma Assad said. She also thanked her children, parents and Bashar al-Assad for their support.


In August last year, the Syrian President’s Office announced that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s wife, Asma Assad, had been admitted to Damascus Hospital for cancer.


In January of this year, she underwent an operation at a military hospital in Damascus. In the interview, she also talked about the impact of these treatments on her.
